Most of us have considered it at one point or another while surfing some of our favorite scenes, or watching one of our favorite DVDs. I could do that, heck I should do that! How awesome would it be to get paid to nail all kinds of sexy women everyday? Well, if you’re seriously considering it, here are some of your options on ways to get into the industry.
For men it’s harder getting started as a porn actor. Being in good shape, well hung, and good looking is just the beginning. Your performance skills have to be up to snuff as well. Cumming on command, maintaining an erection no matter the situation. It takes both genetic luck, and strong willpower to be eligible in most cases. If you’re only average sized, or you haven’t got control of when you finish you’re going to come up against a tougher road. Some of these paths will work for you, others may not.
Keep in mind there are scammers out there, so do your research. You’ll need to be clean of STIs or STDs, and in general you’re not getting paid for the audition. Also remember, once you’ve made the leap there’s no going back. The internet never forgets.
1. Fill a Niche
There’s all kinds of kinks and fetishes out there. Some sites dedicate themselves solely to bondage, or domination, diaper play, or furrydom. Niches include everything more vanilla as well, but in this case I’m speaking of what most people would find a little more extreme. If you’re into a specific kink, chances are there are others that are looking for porn of it. This is where you come in. In these cases the talent pool for both men and women slims down to those that can at least act like they’re into whatever they’re doing. You may not need the stamina, or even the looks if this is the way you’re trying to break into the industry. In fact, it may be your distinctive looks that get you the part in the first place. Starting in kink/niche work will most often have to begin with an audition, much like I talk about in number three, but involving whatever your chosen niche may be.
2. Bring a Beautiful Woman
Some men have had success by being the only man a particular woman will work with. This is a tough one because you would have to know a girl that wants to start in the adult industry as well. If you do, and you both agree, she may be able to broker you a deal to get you started as the only guy that gets to bang her. This takes some pretty serious savvy on the girl or her agent’s part, and the acquiescence of the studio doing the film. You’ll find, even if the deal is made, that you’ll still need to do an audition so the studio knows you won’t be ruining the film.
3. Go for a Studio Audition
If you’re serious, well endowed, and think you have the stamina and willpower to be a porn star, this is your route. You know you can bang anyone, anytime, and anywhere for as long as you want. Booking your audition can be tricky, and you might want to first look into a agency to represent you. You can, of course, look up your favorite studios and make some cold-calls, but open auditions for men don’t happen often. Once you have your audition booked, be ready for anything. The studio is going to want to test you to see if you really can bang ANYone, ANYtime, ANYwhere.
4. Make an Audition Tape
For some reason you can’t seem to either find an agent or a studio in your area, but still want to try. Making a tape is probably your best option. Being fit, big, and having stamina will still matter, but having this tape and being able to send it to the studios or agents will at least give them an idea of what you can do. The agents can send it around to get your audition, and studios will be able to see what you can do before they schedule you in. Posting this directly to the internet won’t get you the audition, but I’m sure we would love to see it. (We being the internet)
5. Start Your Own Company
This is the easiest way to become a porn star as a man. It puts you in charge, so you’ll always get through the audition fine. You can veto who you’ll be in the scene with as you’re the one hiring the actresses. Even better, if you don’t perform well one day, you can always reschedule for another. It’s not like you’re going to fire yourself for enjoying the scene a little too much a little too early. Before you make the leap though, consider why we aren’t all porn tycoons. Nevermind the overhead for a studio or location, cameras, and actors for the moment. Nevermind legal concerns in your area, or internet saturation. Your video, in whatever medium you choose, has to sell. If it doesn’t, you’re wasting your time and money. It might be fun to bang some talent and make a video but if you don’t have a market to sell it to you’ve got problems. Anyone can make a film of two people having sex, but why are people going to want to watch it? (Unless it’s free, in this case please start work right away)
It’s fun to think about, giving up the 9-5 and getting it on day in and day out. And getting paid for it! If you do it, kudos. Remember to do your research though, and keep yourself safe.
