Even JC’s Girls Get Tired

I call Heather Veitch Tuesday afternoon.

Heather: “I’m being interviewed by Swiss TV.

“Other than that, I’m tired. I want a break. I keep telling God I want a break. He doesn’t give me any breaks.”

“I really really have a desire to be like everybody else now but that’s been on my mind for a long time. I think I’m more of a private person than I thought. I’m so friendly but I’m private.

“How are things with you?”

Luke: “It’s quiet. That’s why I’m hitting the phones.”

Heather: “Bad for you, good for me. I’m glad to hear that people are not in complete tragedy now.”

“I had a good outreach last night. I talked to four strippers on camera [for Swiss TV]. They were all responsive. I’d see one on another day at a nightclub. This girl was dancing around a pole and showing off and showing everybody everything for free.

“I thought, oh no, here’ s a girl all into dancing and I’m about to talk to her about God on camera but the second I said something, she started crying. Her dad was a pastor. Her parents were missionaries. She said she had a really low IQ and that it was really hard and she couldn’t pass tests like normal people. She could barely graduate [high school] and she didn’t know what else to do.”

“I’m so tired I almost wanted them to say, ‘Get out of my face!’ But every girl said she was glad I was there and she was glad I’m doing what I’m doing.

“Our JCsGirls.com thing is kinda down. There are other JCsGirls starting up. Different people felt like doing a ministry. They didn’t talk to me about it. Now there are all these other branches that I’m not involved in. In a way, that’s cool. I think of myself as the founder of JCsGirls but I’m no longer in leadership of any of them.

“We don’t quite know what to do with the website.¬† Everybody wants to know how we do it. Maybe we’ll just make the site a resource center.

“I don’t think I have any rhyme or reason to what I do. I just make friends with girls. That’s a hard one for Christians to understand. They want a program.”
