Hacker Arrested for Streaming Porn in Jakarta

Last Friday, during rush hour traffic in Jakarta, Indonesia, commuters and motorists were exposed to several minutes of Japanese porn streaming on one of the city’s giant videotron screens (pictured above). Authorities were able to turn it off when they cut the power. In the aftermath, Indonesian police underwent a swift investigation, locating an I.P address which they used to trace back to the user.

24-year-old Samudera Al Hakam Ralial has been arrested today. After admitting that he hacked into the bilboard’s system, Ralial has stated that the porn broadcast was wholly accidental.

The billboard system is known to have vulnerabilities. As reported by a programmer in Jarkarta: if the billboard system loses its internet connection, it shows the login credentials and password. Ralial admitted to noticing this glaring vulnerability and took advantage of the opportunity.

Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country whose laws prohibit all pornographic material and even romantic movie scenes are heavily censored. It comes as little surprise that Ralial will be facing up to six years in prison for his misdeed.

Do you think the Indonesian government went too far in setting this man’s punishment? Or do you think his punishment is fair, given the ultra-conservative social climate of the country?

Anyway, looks like Samudera was a real Japanese porn fan! Thank god we live in America. Check out some of these Japanese porn videos!
