No Animals (Or Tits) Harmed In Making Of Music Vid

As an artform, no one would dare question the thought of a naked woman soaring through the air with, say, vibrant coloured ribbons flowing from her sensual self. Picture that – beautiful. When it comes to gangster rap, though, someone might toss up a flag or two.

Which is unfortunate, cuz all I want for my birthday is a big booty hoe.

Obviously the music video shown above is far from gangster rap, and actually includes the always classy Pharrell Williams. When I first saw the video, I immediately downloaded it, thinking it wouldn’t last on youtube. *EDIT* And it hasn’t! I originally had the youtube version embedded in this post, and it has been deleted – good thing I downloaded it before it was removed. That makes this post way more exclusive, and the video much more rare!!  It seems youtube’s policies have become rather slack, as it’s been up for a couple days now. I was wrong to think they only allow medical nudity, and other forms of art (lol).

This brings me to censorship in music. The entire basis of music is expression, and to apply rules and guidelines to music dulls the overall experience (visually and audibly). Different genres appeal to different audiences, but no matter the situation, the audience wants to feel stimulation and emotion. A video can help achieve this, and censorship of nudity in music videos has been rampant since the late 1970’s. Wikipedia has actually compiled a list of censored/banned music videos, and I managed to dig up a few. This first one is appropriately released by Pharell and his group N.E.R.D.! Enjoy.
