Welcome to the end of an era. Playboy Magazine has just released the news that they will soon be cutting all nudity out of their iconic magazine. This isn’t any sort of prank but what’s the reason for this huge change? The reason is us.
That might be a bit of a stretch but in reality with online sites taking nudity and sex acts to every level imaginable Playboy has lost its edge and market share. The magazine now plans to focus more on the actual articles (yes, there are articles). The Playboy brand dabbled with online subscriptions but the brand has struggled when it comes to the online marketplace. Under the direction of Playboy’s chief executive, Scott Flanders they’ll be working to reinvent the Playboy name and it’s place in the world.
Scott Flanders told the New York Times, “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. (Offering nude content) is just passé at this juncture.”
Scott’s point is very valid as it is difficult to compete with major video and tube sites with massive video collections like PORN.COM
Even now, the aspect that sets Playboy apart from other adult producers are the interviews and other articles found within each issue. Being able to spotlight the written word will help Playboy find more of a focus in today’s landscape..It surprises some that Hugh Hefner didn’t take long to jump on board and agree that the magazine needed a new angle to stay on top of the business world and stay relevant.
Some are saying that nudity is what held the magazine back and that it actually contains some of the most complex and advanced articles and writing available. Playboy now has to say goodbye to its long history of turning boys into men and now give it up to the world wide web where you can access anything in quick time.
The playboy logo is one of the most recognizable logos in the world and it’d be a shame to let it’s prominence fade away. Don’t worry about Playboy leaving us completely however they will still feature provocative and racy images just in clothing.
The resident “sexpert” at Playboy, Mr.Jones will continue writing columns for them but keeping it very “sex-positive female,” according to the New York Times. So look out for the latest, revamped Playboy coming to you soon! Remember, when you want to satisfy your craving for hot women doing all manner of naughty things you can always check out the sexy solo videos at PORN.COM
