That’s Definitely a Couple Having Sex in the Background of BBC’s Olympics Coverage

It’s been a strange few weeks at the Rio Olympics, which have brought us #LochteGate, memes, and … more memes. It only seemed fitting a camera would catch people in the middle of a very intimate moment on Rio’s Copacabana beach.

That exact honor befell Dan Walker of BBC News as he was just trying to throw it back to Thursday night’s basketball coverage. Instead, he got commenters asking what was going on in the background of his shot and had to try and explain on live television.

“And for those asking what’s going on in the background on social media now, we’re not gonna zoom in, but rest assured, it’s not that. It’s just a hug,” he explained before he peeked back himself to take a look. He continued:

“They’re reading a book! Apparently they are reading a book in a strange pose. OK? Merely a book! We’ll find out what the book is maybe later on. So! We’re not gonna go any closer than that then. Some live basketball for you!”
