University professor accidentally plays porn in class

A Canadian professor was left embarrassed after he accidentally played porn on a projector in a class packed with students. Approximately 500 students had turned up for an introductory lesson on psychology at the University of Toronto, but none of them was ready for the explicit display of the human anatomy and sexuality they go served with. Professor Steve Joordens was understandably left red-faced after accidentally playing the x-rated video, a mistake that took 10 long seconds to rectify. Talk about starting the morning with a bang!

The professor intended to start off his 9 am course entitled ‘Introduction to Biological and Cognitive Psychology’ by connecting a projector to his laptop, but little did he know that he had smut playing on his laptop. The professor looked mortified as he scrambled to turn off the explicit content.

Footage from the lecture hall shows some students getting up to leave as others saw the funny side of it, bursting out in laughter.  The leaving students may not necessarily have been offended by the porn; it is possible they were students from the previous class that was just leaving. The incident took place at the university’s Scarborough Campus where one of the students recorded it on Snapchat from where it was shared hundreds of times.  The video also made its way to Reddit, although it has since been taken down. No surprises there, anything comical in the 21st century spreads on social media like wild bush fire. The viral video was captioned: ‘First psychology class…wtf…prof was watching porn before this…

When I saw the [pornographic] video, I was surprised. I was not expecting that especially this early in the morning… I found the whole situation funny, and he made a lot of people laugh,’ the freshman who recorded the video told the campus” paper The Varsity.

The university offered to help ‘disturbed parties.’ In a statement, a university spokesperson said: “We can’t discuss personnel matters,” said the spokesman, a certain Don Campbell “But, we are aware of the situation and are encouraging students who are feeling unsettled to speak with staff at the Health and Wellness Centre.”

Apology

Following the embarrassing incident, the professor released a statement to the campus paper with his apology: “With respect to the event that happened prior to my class on Monday the 24th, I want to be clear that what happened was completely unintentional and I feel absolutely terrible about it,” he said.

I have apologized to my class, and now I want to move on. Thanks to my students, colleagues and my amazing family for their support and understanding,” he added.

A student showed a sense of empathy: “Everyone makes mistakes so I can’t blame him. I hope nothing bad happens in the future and this can just be a thing to laugh about, I hope his job isn’t affected or anything in his personal life either,” said the unnamed student.

It has since been established the porn video contained hentai scenes (its anime porn, in case you wanted to Google). It looks like even old folks have kinky tastes after all.

Social media reactions

The video may have been taken down in the multiple threads that quickly sprung up in the aftermath of the Monday incident, but the hilarious comments by some of the students remain intact as they took to social media to crack jokes and share their feelings about the situation.  Here are some of the most hilarious that The Porn Dude has personally seen.

His very erect foundation of knowledge and HANDS on teaching style is what gets me going,” reads one. “Although his lectures get harder and harder to understand, my thick appreciation for this class will never recede to a flaccid state.”

Another user on Twitter going by the username of @zshaikh20 quipped: ‘Here at UTSC, our professors deem it necessary to include porn as a way of ensuring thorough learning.’

Another jokingly said of the professor: “He likes to lay it hard on lecture, and I often found myself bending over backwards to keep it up. His lectures were provocative and penetrated deep into concepts in psychology and were very stimulating. One of the best profs at UTSC hands down. I hope he gets tenure at UTSC because he deserves it.”

It is fair to say the professor became the punch line in some pretty hilarious jokes judging from the comments on social media. The incident aside, Professor Steve Joordens has taught at the university since 1995, winning numerous awards including ‘Canadian Post-Secondary #EdTech Professor of the Year in 2017’.

This incident clearly doesn’t define the professor’s teaching prowess. But it was certainly an exciting experience to students at UTSC. Who knows, it might even turn out to be a psychological experiment intended to demonstrate the connection between sexuality and the human mind. Or maybe not.

Finally

There are many places I would like to be, but I’d rather listen to a rattlesnake in my shirt pocket than be in the professor’s shoes!
